TFL Weekly Rule Focus - Squib Kickoff

SQUIB KICKOFF When a team decides to try a squib kickoff follow all normal kickoff rules with these adjustments to the card readings:

ADJUSTMENTS TO THE “KICKOFF CARD” RESULTS • Add 20 yard to the stated yard line.  For example, if the kickoff card says the ball is kicked to the 5-yard line it would go to the 25-yard line instead. • If the original says “Touchback” then the ball goes to the 15-yard line instead.

ADJUSTMENTS TO THE “KICKOFF RETURN” AND “REFER TO OPPONENTS” RESULTS • Use the card of the designated kickoff returner for purposes of determining results, but understand that the kickoff return is actually made by an up-back so do not add the results of the kickoff return to the returner’s game statistics. • Subtract 15 yards from the return yardage shown in the result.  No resulting yardage may be less than 0 yards nor more than 30 yards. • If the return is shown as “Touchdown” then use the Long Gain chart to determine the outcome of the play instead.
