Erie 53

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Erie 53 that day,

The score stood 24-13 with but a quarter and a half to play.

But Grandpa Peterson rolled a deuce to cut the lead,

And Jimmy G threw a pick, just what Scott did not need.

The next drive looked real bad, with a bad run and a hold,

But a lucky pass to Stills was rolled, and the result was gold.

On 3rd and 1 Allen fought to try and get one yard,

But the Air Raid D was mighty, and the sledding was quite hard.

4th and two was now the scene, oh what could Erie do? 

For the first time all game, Allen threw it to Juju. 

A four was rolled on the white die, how would Erie fare?

The reds added up to six, a first down for those that are aware.

The drive moved on quite slowly, Zona was holding stout,

Allen kept rolling his card five, and Coach Lewis started to pout.

Some lucky rolls happened by and Erie started to move,

Could they get into the end zone, so Silence fans could groove?

Allen looked to the flat, against the vaunted Miller,

Who already batted down 4 passes, oh yes, he was a killer.

A five shone bright and O'Shaughenessey snared the leather,

He took it to the house through the hot Arizona weather.

Erie now led by three, but Scotty had the ball,

The D needed a big play, which team would stand tall?

A run around the end, to keep the drive intact,

Erie fell on the ball, and joyous shouts were heard,

But only in PA, Arizona didn't say a word.

Conner tried to kill the clock, but he's not so hot,

Erie had to punt, Scott had one more shot.

With 8 seconds to go, a might heave was launched,

It landed in Williams' arms, and Erie's gut felt punched.

Long gain said the card, how far would he go?

Just thirty-nine yards, and Air Raid fans yelled 'No'!
