Twas the night before Wednesday

Twas the night before Wednesday and all through the land, Hooziers were hoping for a win bundled up in the stands. The game was a snooze fest, as they played the first half. 4 missed field goals, 3 by Crosby’s strained calf. Drives were stalled for several reasons; yellow flags were festive this holiday season. The half-time came without much reason to cheer, but the Hooziers were up 3 as fans grabbed some more beer. Early second half the godfathers were looking to score, but Allen Robinson dropped the ball on the floor. The Hoozier recovered at their fifteen, would drive the whole field to take a 10-point lead. The noise level raised for the rest of the night, Hoozier fans were sure a victory was insight. Things were perfect fourth quarter, minutes left six, when all the sudden Russell Wilson was picked! Kevin Johnson would scramble leaving only 18 yards to go, the Godfathers offense took the field looking for the end zone. Mariota took the field to silence Oakville town, hitting Jamaal Charles for his first career Touchdown. A hush fell over the crowd as fans held their breath, but they all sighed relief at the failed onside attempt. Russel took the field with 3:54 on the clock, thinking a couple of first downs should surely do the job. But 3 plays later a Godfathers miracle occurred; Kamar Aiken fumbled the ball and from under the pile a Godfather player emerged. Mariota took the field and put on such a sight, on Powell, on Robinson he cried out through the night. One and half minutes is all it took to his team, to drive down the field and take a 14-10 lead. Just over a minute left on the clock would not be enough, for the Hooziers to prove they had the right stuff. As Mariota left the field reporters would hear him spat, “Merry Christmas to all, now how do you like that!”
